Embrace Autumn’s Warmth | Season of Change
This season is about change, which is not only found in the changing colors of nature, but deep within ourselves. Most of us create new changes during the fall because it seems to be in our psyche. This is because of deeply rooted habits formed when we were very young. Whenever there is change in our lives, we have the greatest opportunity to escape the dreaded “comfort zone” and continue to grow and succeed. Bob Proctor once told me that:
“being in your comfort zone is a very bad place to be.”
He was right.Leaving our comfort zone is difficult because we tend to resist change. Innate anxiety seems to arise whenever we deviate from the “norm,” whether it’s a child starting the first day of school, a student beginning academic studies, or an adult starting a brand new career. But embracing change isn’t just about academics. Embrace Autumn’s Warmth While Savoring a Pumpkin Spiced Latte Every situation makes us do and be something more than we already are.Otherwise, our life would stop due to lack of growth.
It takes determination to finally leave a “familiar” and seemingly safe situation to embrace something new. Challenge and conquer the unknown. It was October 2020 when my 25-year-old son burst into the kitchen while I was making dinner. Embrace Autumn’s Warmth While Savoring a Pumpkin Spiced Latte He excitedly announced that he was going skydiving. I’m not sure how long it took him to finally get “comfortable” with the idea, but I bet it was quite a while.
To add insult to injury, my very mature 20 year old daughter also decided to jump. Well, I almost fell on the floor.I’m sure any parent reading this article can relate to the negative feelings and constant worry running through my head imagining the worst possible scenario. After a lot of fighting with my thoughts and feelings, I finally got a handle on my thinking and started envisioning the perfect day for them to jump.
I saw their sublime happy faces as they both landed safely on the ground, which just happened. It was interesting to me that although I did not jump, I physically and mentally experienced almost the same stress and fear that my children must have felt, and yet my feet were firmly on the ground. You need courage to overcome your fears, whether real or imagined. People can live their entire lives without ever stepping out of their comfort zone.
If you fear change, understand that fear is just a mental block that disappears the moment you decide to step forward and take action. By changing your “habits” in this way, you break through these challenges and therefore easily adapt to future changes. This is such an important lesson that I am glad my children learned at a young age.
I myself continue to adapt to the many changes of life. In fact, next month our company will take more leaps to grow and get out of another comfort zone again. Embrace Autumn’s Warmth While Savoring a Pumpkin Spiced Latte I urge you to move forward to encounter the delight of individual or expert development. Go back to school or invest in yourself by exploring personal development.
Take a night school class, enjoy a new hobby, or get into an exercise routine you’ve been putting off. The health and well-being of your body is just as important as the development of your mind.I definitely don’t recommend parading to get over your fear! Personally, you should hit me with a hammer before I throw myself out of a plane.
But if you decide to embrace the change, commit to it firmly, because the best time is NOW, this season! Embrace Autumn’s Warmth While Savoring a Pumpkin Spiced Latte As you think about your next big challenge, enjoy a brisk walk in the fall sunshine and be sure to grab some pumpkin spice shakes to try along the way.
